Shipping & Delivery – How your order reaches you
In this section you’ll find everything you need to know about shipping your order. This includes topics such as shipping costs, shipping and delivery days, preferred shipping, and shipment tracking. You’ll also learn more about the specifics of each shipping provider as well as how to return Styrofoam boxes you no longer need.
What are our shipping days?
Our partner companies DHL, DPD and GO! ensure with their experienced teams that our parcels arrive safely and intact. Delivery usually takes 1–7 working days.
Please note that shipping may be delayed by a few days if public holidays or company holidays occur between your order and delivery. Depending on the selected shipping provider, parcels leave our warehouse from Monday to Thursday.
More information can be found in our shipping conditions.
What are our delivery days?
The delivery day of your order depends on the time your order was placed and the selected shipping provider. Delivery usually takes between 1–7 working days.
The shipping times refer to the time from when your order is received by us. Please note our shipping days and that processing your order also takes 1–2 working days. More information can be found in our shipping conditions.
How does preferred shipping work?
Would you like your order to be shipped at a later date? No problem. During checkout, under the third step “Shipping,” you can first select the shipping provider.
After that, if needed, you can select your desired shipping date from the drop-down field.
Please note that you select the shipping date (not the delivery date) and that it must still be within the same month.
How much are the shipping costs?
We charge shipping per parcel—depending on how heavy your package is and which shipping provider you selected. For orders over €100, we cover the shipping costs for deliveries within Germany.
More information, as well as shipping costs to other countries, can be found in our shipping conditions.
My order was supposed to be shipped with dry ice. Why don’t I see any dry ice when the package arrives?
Dry ice ensures that your frozen food stays deeply frozen during transit. With a temperature of approx. -78°C, it keeps your order nicely cooled and preserves the quality of the food. During transport, the dry ice evaporates into CO₂ (sublimates).
It is intended to have completely disappeared by the time it arrives so that it no longer poses any danger to you as a customer, since dry ice can cause burns and suffocation hazards.
Note: Not every shipping provider offers shipping with dry ice. For example, this option is not available with DHL.
Why is dry ice not used for DHL shipments?
DHL banned the shipment of dry ice in standard parcels as of November 1, 2019. This is due to stricter hazardous goods regulations. DHL justifies the ban as follows: “[...] Even small quantities of dry ice [can] fill a larger space with carbon dioxide.
Depending on the concentration in the air, this can have various effects on humans such as dizziness, headaches, and risk of suffocation. Contact with dry ice can also cause cold burns. According to Section 3 of the German Occupational Health and Safety Act, employers are required to take necessary measures to ensure employee safety and health. Furthermore, according to hazardous goods regulations under
Section 5.5.3.3.3 ADR, packages containing cooling or conditioning agents must be transported in well-ventilated vehicles and containers. The required gas-tight separation between the driver’s cab and the cargo area cannot be guaranteed throughout the entire transport chain.”
More detailed information about DHL’s dangerous goods regulations can be found on the DHL page about dangerous goods (German).
Why do I have to personally accept deliveries from DPD and GO!?
Shipments with DPD and GO! are express deliveries, which may only be handed over personally to the recipient by the shipping provider.
In some cases, it may be possible to grant a drop-off authorization or similar permission. However, we cannot guarantee or assume liability for this. As a rule, a second delivery attempt will be made on the next working day.
How does shipment tracking work?
As soon as your parcel has been packed in our warehouse and registered with the shipping provider, you will receive an
email containing the link to your shipment tracking. You can also view the current status of your order and the tracking link in your customer account under order history.
Why is my shipment tracking status not updating?
In rare cases, technical issues may result in shipment tracking not being updated.
In this case, please contact our customer service at Tel.: +49 (0)3876 - 30 69 94-0 Please also note that processing your order before shipping can take 1–2 working days. You will only receive a tracking link once your parcel has been packed and registered with the shipping provider.
Until final dispatch, your order is stored in our cold storage facility. Therefore, there is no need to worry if several days pass between the announcement of your parcel and the actual shipment.
Can I return Styrofoam boxes that I no longer need?
First, purchase our return label in our online shop. By purchasing it, you receive a one-time-use parcel return label for sending back one insulated box with DPD within Germany.
Each insulated box can be returned individually in its original outer carton.
Combining multiple cartons under one return label is not possible. If you would like to return several insulated boxes at once, please order the corresponding number of labels in one order. The return label expires after 30 days. After receipt of payment and processing, we will send you the return label by email. Please note that this may take 1–3 working days. As a thank-you for returning your insulated box(es), you will receive an environmental bonus in the form of a discount code.
You can use this code for your next purchase in our online shop. The code can be redeemed within 3 years of issuance.
Further important information can be found in the product description of the return label as well as on our information page about packaging returns.
