Why Tripe and Omasum for Dogs?

Tripe and omasum are two of the four stomachs of ruminants like cattle (rumen, omasum, abomasum, reticulum) and are rich in proteins, fiber, minerals, and pre-digested plant fibers. Green or White Tripe? The Differences

Green tripe is the more natural variant. It is only roughly shaken, preserving pre-digested plant fibers and beneficial bacteria. These not only give tripe its characteristic green color but also make it particularly rich in nutrients. Green beef tripe is an excellent source of fiber for dogs.

White tripe, on the other hand, is washed and therefore contains fewer nutrients but has a milder odor. It is ideal for dogs that are sensitive to strong smells or have allergies.

Omasum for Dogs – Light & Healthy

Omasum from beef is particularly low in fat, making it ideal for dogs prone to overweight or just starting with the BARF diet. Its leaf-like folds contain valuable bacteria and plant fibers that are easily digestible and contribute to overall health. Feeding Recommendations for Tripe & Omasum

Tripe and omasum can make up about 20% of the animal portion in a BARF diet. A balanced meal following the prey model consists of 80% animal and 20% plant-based ingredients. The animal portion is composed of 50% muscle meat, 20% tripe and omasum, 15% organs, and 15% raw meaty bones. If you choose not to feed tripe or omasum, you can simply replace it with muscle meat.
