Fix-BARF® monthly package renal diet food
Fresh ingredients to help keep your cat healthy
Our cooked renal Fix-BAF® complete menus are special complete dietetic foods for cats, designed to support renal function in cases of chronic renal insufficiency. Premium-quality muscle meat forms the basis of these tasty complete foods with a moderate protein content. Supplemented with important offal such as heart and liver, as well as an extra portion of fat, these complete menus provide many essential nutrients in a natural way. To ensure that the renal complete menus cover 100 % of your cat’s needs, they are rounded off with essential supplement blends that are calculated individually.
An extra portion of fat to stimulate appetite
Unlike conventional renal foods, our Fix-BAF® renal is free from grains and other unnecessary ingredients. It contains only important indigestible fibre in the form of pumpkin. Thanks to its very high meat content and additional fat content, our special renal food is guaranteed to be a real treat for any cat with kidney disease. The phosphate content is reduced by 30 % in all varieties, calcium is supplemented to meet requirements, and the protein content meets requirements at the lower end of the scale. This means your cat receives all the necessary nutrients in the right amount, adapted to her special needs. All of this supports and relieves your cat with kidney disease every single day.
Ideally balanced recipes
For our cooked renal diet food, we use only very high-quality muscle meat. The recipes have an increased fat content of 15 - 20 % to make them even more palatable and improve acceptance. In addition, the fibre content has been increased to 10 % in order to support digestion as effectively as possible.
All varieties also contain cooked egg white to further reduce the phosphate content while still providing sufficient protein. Our Fix-BAF® renal diet food is also low in sodium and contains increased amounts of iron, B vitamins, vitamin E and taurine. This is necessary because cats with kidney disease usually suffer from a deficiency of various nutrients due to increased urine excretion and impaired kidney function. The addition of pectin rounds off our cooked renal meals. It binds toxins formed in the large intestine and helps eliminate them, providing additional relief for the kidneys.
Please note:
As chronic renal insufficiency is an incurable disease, we recommend having your cat examined by a veterinarian every six months. Blood tests allow the veterinarian to assess the progression of the disease and also determine whether your cat is receiving sufficient phosphorus despite the significantly phosphate-reduced food.
This product was developed in collaboration with our animal naturopath Petra von Quillfeldt. You can find more information about feeding cats with chronic renal insufficiency in our blog post Renal insufficiency in cats.
Please note: Our renal diet food is significantly reduced in phosphate, which is why the recommended feeding period is initially 6 months. It is recommended to seek the advice of a veterinarian before use or before extending the feeding period. Regular blood tests are useful in order to detect a possible phosphate deficiency in good time and to assess the progression of the disease under this feeding regime as effectively as possible.
Please make sure your cat always has access to sufficient fresh water. We recommend mixing our Fix-BAF® renal diet food with at least 30 % water before feeding to ensure adequate fluid intake. Using the example of a 4 kg cat with a daily feeding amount of 180 g, this would mean feeding 120 g Fix-BAF® renal + 60 ml water.
