Attention: Dogs and cats fed with a kidney diet food should be under regular veterinary supervision. Long-term use may lead to phosphorus deficiency due to excessive calcium intake. This deficiency can cause symptoms similar to chronic kidney failure. Therefore, please do not feed the kidney diet and eggshell powder for longer than six months consecutively, and consult your veterinarian for a check-up no later than that. Feeding with kidney-specific food should generally only be initiated upon the advice of a veterinarian following a prior diagnosis and assessment of the severity of the disease.
For a varied diet with soft and hard bones, it is not advisable to supplement eggshell powder for healthy dogs and cats. If your pet does not eat bones or cannot tolerate them, you should supplement the missing calcium with bone meal. Bone meal has an ideal calcium-phosphorus ratio and is the most natural alternative to feeding bones.
