Essential for your cat's health
Taurine is an essential amino acid for cats. However, since only mice contain sufficient taurine to meet your cat's needs, additional taurine supplementation is necessary with a normal BARF diet. Taurine deficiency can lead to impairments in vision and heart function, as well as weakening fertility and the immune system. Therefore, it is important to enrich your cat’s BARF meals daily with the right amount of taurine.
Also necessary for outdoor cats
Even if you regularly feed whole mice, taurine should still be supplemented because feed mice contain significantly less of this essential amino acid than wild mice. Supplementation is also necessary for outdoor cats, as you can never be sure how many mice the cat has caught and eaten during its outings. Since taurine is rarely overdosed, it is better to be safe and prevent deficiencies through supplementation.
