Cold-Pressed Evening Primrose Oil: A Valuable Source of Essential Fatty Acids
The evening primrose is a plant originally native to North America that has also established itself as an important medicinal plant in Europe since the 17th century. The oil obtained from evening primrose seeds is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids such as linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). These essential fatty acids cannot be produced in sufficient amounts by dogs, so they need to be provided through their diet. These fatty acids play a crucial role in numerous important processes in the body, including supporting the immune system, regulating inflammation, and promoting healthy skin and a shiny coat.
Important Supplement for Daily Nutrition
In addition to the well-known benefits for skin and coat, the components of evening primrose oil also have anti-inflammatory properties, which can be particularly useful for dogs with allergies, skin problems, or inflammatory conditions. Regular administration of evening primrose oil can also promote overall vitality. The oil can also be applied externally to soothe dry or irritated skin and support healing.
