Chicken Renal Diet Food - Fix-BARF®
Fix-BARF® Turkey & Chicken Renal Diet Food
High-quality raw meals for renal insufficiency
Our Fix-BARF® renal special food in the beef & turkey variety is a special dietetic complete feed for cats to support kidney function in cases of chronic renal insufficiency. This high-quality renal complete menu consists of quality-tested beef muscle meat without connective tissue, supplemented with turkey hearts, turkey fat and turkey liver. This creates a tasty, healthy raw meat food with a limited but high-quality protein content. Supplemented with all necessary nutrients, our Fix-BARF® renal provides you with a complete feed of particularly high quality.
No comparison with conventional food for cats with kidney disease
Unlike conventional kidney food, we do not use grains or any other plant-based fillers in the production of our renal complete menus. Only a portion of pumpkin is included in this special food, providing your cat with important fibre for healthy digestion. With its very high meat content, our beef & turkey renal special food for cats with kidney disease is a real treat and is very well accepted.
What makes our kidney food special
The phosphate content in our renal complete menus is reduced by 30 %, the calcium is supplemented to meet requirements (Ca/P = 1.4/1), and the protein content meets requirements at the lower end of the range. To achieve this, we use only very high-quality muscle meat. In addition, the recipe has an increased fat content of 15 - 20 %, the fibre content has been increased and cooked egg white is used, which is over 90 % digestible and phosphate-free, in order to further reduce the phosphate content.
100 % nutritionally complete
Fix-BARF® renal special beef & turkey is low in sodium and contains increased amounts of important nutrients such as iron, B vitamins, vitamin E and taurine. Cats with kidney disease often have a deficiency in these nutrients due to increased urine excretion and impaired kidney function. This was taken into account when developing the recipe. The addition of pectin completes the kidney-supporting meal. It binds toxins formed in the large intestine and helps them to be excreted, which provides additional relief for the kidneys. Overall, every single ingredient has been selected with the utmost care so that the complete menu can support and relieve your cat with kidney disease in the best possible way.
This product was developed in collaboration with our animal naturopath Petra von Quillfeldt. You can find more information about feeding cats with chronic renal insufficiency in our blog post Renal insufficiency in cats.
Please note: Our renal diet food is significantly reduced in phosphate, which is why the recommended feeding period is initially 6 months. It is recommended to seek the advice of a veterinarian before use or before extending the feeding period. Regular blood tests are useful in order to detect a possible phosphate deficiency in good time and to assess the progression of the disease under this feeding regime as effectively as possible.
Please make sure your cat always has access to sufficient fresh water. We recommend mixing our Fix-BARF® renal diet food with at least 30 % water before feeding to ensure adequate fluid intake. Using the example of a 4 kg cat with a daily feeding amount of 180 g, this would mean feeding 120 g Fix-BARF® renal + 60 ml water.
Fix-BARF® for Cats
The daily food amount should be approximately 25 - 30 g of food per kg of the cat's body weight. However, the specified food amounts are only guidelines and may vary significantly depending on age, breed, sex, and living conditions.
We recommend dividing the total food amount into at least two portions per day.
All of our BARF products should be stored in the freezer at -18 °C and thawed in the refrigerator for about 12 hours before feeding, either without packaging or with sufficient air holes. Serve the meat at room temperature.
BARF pyramid for cats
The BARF pyramid shown here illustrates how a balanced BARF meal for a healthy, adult cat can be structured. However, it serves only as a rough guideline, as the composition can vary significantly depending on your cat's tolerance, acceptance, and individual needs. A BARF ration typically consists of 95% animal-based and 5% plant-based ingredients. Heart is considered muscle meat and should make up a maximum of 20% of the total ration. Offal includes, among other things, stomach and liver, as well as – depending on the cat's preferences – spleen, kidney, and lung. Suitable meaty bones include, for example, chicken necks, while breastbone is unsuitable for cats.

Mein nierenkranker Kater mag dieses Futter sehr und frisst nun endlich wieder sehr gut. Allerdings muss ich viele zu große Stücke noch zerkleinern. Daher nur vier Sterne.
