Description
An Essential Foundation for Healthy BARF Meals
Muscle meat is the central component of the BARF diet in terms of quantity. For balanced feeding, it should make up about 50% of the animal-based components. In addition to high-quality proteins, muscle meat provides your pet with many important nutrients such as phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, and healthy fats that are essential for overall health.
Fat as an Essential Energy Source
Animal fats are the most important source of energy for dogs. Therefore, it is important not to feed only lean meat. An optimal fat content in muscle meat is between 15 - 25%. Fat not only provides your dog with energy but also contains essential fatty acids. If the fat content in the muscle meat is below the ideal level, additional fat, such as beef or chicken fat, should be supplemented.
Hearty Meat Chunks for Chewing Pleasure
During production, our beef muscle meat is cut into larger chunks that will be a true treat for dogs who enjoy chewing. The meaty pieces offer delicious chewing fun for young and old dogs of all sizes—the ideal foundation for any balanced BARF meal.

Feeding recommendation
For a balanced BARF diet for adult healthy dogs, we recommend a feeding composition of 80 % animal and 20 % plant-based components. The animal portion should be divided into 50 % muscle meat, 20 % tripe and omasum, 15 % offal, and 15 % raw meaty bones (RMB). The plant-based portion usually consists of 75 % vegetables and 25 % fruit.
Tip: To accurately calculate your dog's BARF rations, you can use our free BARF calculator. Simply enter your dog's data and receive balanced daily and weekly rations within seconds.
For adult healthy cats, the animal portion of BARF rations should be 95 %, consisting of approximately 65 % muscle meat, heart, fat, and blood, as well as 15 % raw meaty bones and offal. The remaining 5 % consists of fiber-rich vegetables such as carrots or pumpkin.
We recommend dividing the total food amount into at least two meals per day and supplementing with essential nutrients such as omega-3-6-9 oil or salmon oil, as well as seaweed meal and, if necessary, cod liver oil.
All our BARF products should be stored at -18 °C in the freezer and thawed in the refrigerator for approx. 12 hours before feeding, either without packaging or with sufficient air holes. Serve at room temperature.

The BARF pyramid
BARF pyramid for dogs
The BARF pyramid shown alongside illustrates how BARF meals can be structured for a healthy, adult dog. As a general rule, rations consist of 80 % animal and 20 % plant-based components, although not all elements need to be fed every single day. Feeding sick dogs or those with intolerances may look completely different. Therefore, the illustration should be seen as a general guideline only. Our nutrition experts are happy to help you with any questions about the right BARF ration for your four-legged friend.
