Horse Meat Menu with Sweet Potatoes – Perfect for Allergic Dogs
Our Hippo S BARF menu combines lean horse muscle meat with nutrient-rich sweet potatoes to provide your four-legged friend with a tasty and easily digestible meal. The coarsely ground horse meat is rich in vitamins and essential amino acids, while the sweet potatoes are an excellent source of energy and fiber. Thanks to its hypoallergenic ingredients, this menu is also ideal for smaller dogs with allergies or intolerances.
Additional Nutrients for a Balanced Diet
The Hippo BARF menu is supplemented with valuable additives to ensure good nutrient supply. The included flaxseed and fish oil provide essential Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, keeping your dog's skin and coat healthy and shiny. Sea salt provides the necessary sodium intake, while seaweed meal covers the iodine requirement. Additionally, this menu provides your dog with calcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, magnesium, and essential trace elements such as manganese, zinc, and selenium.
Bone-Free Recipe – with BARF-PERLE MineralVitPowder
We deliberately avoid bones in this menu, opting instead for our BARF-PERLE MineralVitPowder. This supplies many necessary minerals and vitamins such as calcium and magnesium to optimally support your dog's health.

Feeding recommendation
For a balanced BARF diet for adult healthy dogs, we recommend a feeding composition of 80 % animal and 20 % plant-based components. The animal portion should be divided into 50 % muscle meat, 20 % tripe and omasum, 15 % offal, and 15 % raw meaty bones (RMB). The plant-based portion usually consists of 75 % vegetables and 25 % fruit.
Tip: To accurately calculate your dog's BARF rations, you can use our free BARF calculator. Simply enter your dog's data and receive balanced daily and weekly rations within seconds.
For adult healthy cats, the animal portion of BARF rations should be 95 %, consisting of approximately 65 % muscle meat, heart, fat, and blood, as well as 15 % raw meaty bones and offal. The remaining 5 % consists of fiber-rich vegetables such as carrots or pumpkin.
We recommend dividing the total food amount into at least two meals per day and supplementing with essential nutrients such as omega-3-6-9 oil or salmon oil, as well as seaweed meal and, if necessary, cod liver oil.
All our BARF products should be stored at -18 °C in the freezer and thawed in the refrigerator for approx. 12 hours before feeding, either without packaging or with sufficient air holes. Serve at room temperature.
The BARF pyramid
BARF pyramid for dogs
The BARF pyramid shown alongside illustrates how BARF meals can be structured for a healthy, adult dog. As a general rule, rations consist of 80 % animal and 20 % plant-based components, although not all elements need to be fed every single day. Feeding sick dogs or those with intolerances may look completely different. Therefore, the illustration should be seen as a general guideline only. Our nutrition experts are happy to help you with any questions about the right BARF ration for your four-legged friend.
